Creative Drama with Crafts & Puppets

RebeccaChildren.jpg

This workshop was  made possible with the support of YAC.

Rebecca Jernigan and her assistants, Esmerelda and Tobey, worked with children ages 6 - 9 on creative expression through voice, body and imagination.  Students participated in theatre games to develop concentration and team work. They also developed stories and created puppets which they used to perform skits. On closing day, a demonstration of the games and skits proved to be delightful.

Rebecca is a professional actress and storyteller on the Mississippi Arts Commission roster, the Mississippi Humanities Council roster and the Southern Arts roster.  She holds membership in Actors Equity and the Screen Actors Guild and a masters degree in arts

This workshop was supported by YAC and the performance was with permission from Theatre Music International (TMI).
All rights reserved.

Special thanks to Holli's Sweet Tooth, boys and Girls Club and the City of Oxford.
Reba Bailey conducted this workshop for children ages 5 - 16.  After a week of learning audition, rehearsal and performance skills, students began rehearsing for a performance.  The Boys and Girls Club rode the Double Decker Bus to attend a rehearsal and act as a practice audience.  The only performance was open to the public and sold out!

Reba Bailey has a passion for working with children. She won an Allie Award for acting at Panola Playhouse and more recently performed in Theatre Oxford's Kringle's Window. She currently sings lead in a local band and practices holistic medicine
